I am and will always be a fan of Hip Hop! I was Talking with a friend of mine earlier today and we were discussing moments in HIP HOP that stood out to us. Although there are probably a million of them that may come to mind ! one of my most memorable moments ( aside from seeing a KRS ONE show) was being @ the Romeo Must die release party in NY.
This was one of those "Who the fuck is that moments". I was at the release party with Don Pooh, Marc Welch and a couple dudes from MCA/Cartel Records and i was Talking with Marc. The moment was ill because we were in VIP and from what I saw it seemed like 50 of us were on one side and these 2 characters were on the other side chillin like it wasn't anyone else in there. Now I am somewhat of a cautious dude so I peeped that no one was really fucking with these two dudes. There were a couple whats ups, and some dapps going on but for the most part it was just touch and go(pause).
After about an hour I was interested in finding out who are these 2 dudes that no one was really fucking with, that why aren't they talking to anyone else aside from themselves or networking. So Me being me I was like Homie who are those dude over there that think they to cool to socialize with anyone, after all we were @ a club and they were in a packed VIP ( but they seem Untouchable). My Homie was like that's those ROCAFELLA niggas, DAME & BIGGS! He was like thats jut how they are they don't really fuck with no one... I was allready a fan of "Dead Presidents" but at that moment I became a fan of ROCAFELLA! The Unity, The "We don't fuck with you Aura".
I guess you would have to be there to really get the full grasp what I am saying. It was just one of those things where you know these mother fuckers is major but you don't know what they do! and why was everyone was so standoffish to them!!!

What's up My people's! I am taking this time to again thank all the people, family ,friends and in-direct contacts that may have had an effect on me good or bad.
In this life of ours we take alot of things for granted. I know that I have lived, loved and will continue to live and love without regrets. I think that is the key to happiness. The ability to be able to live with the cause and effect of our decisions. Sure, There are some things that I would have done differently had I had the mentoring or insight that I have know. But even those aspects of my life I embrace without regret.
The point I am getting at is this. Like most men and people of color I chose to ignore my yearly check ups and had a very unhealthy diet. All those years of bad food, too much drinks and not enough excersise and sleep has finally caught up with me. Had I Maintained at the least my every 6 month visit to get evaluated there may have been a different outcome. The Hypertension and Heart failure would have been diagnosed and treated before it was to this point.
On January 16th 2009 I am having a much needed surgery that will enable me to live a much more enduring and fullfilling life. My resoluotion is to become much Productive and motivated. I will do that by 1. Having my surgery and maintaining a healthier lifestyle. 2. To become more aggressive in improving myself physically and Financially. 3. To work on becoming less of an "asshole" and be more understanding and tolerant of people I come into contact with. ( I am not saying that I am going to be silent and deal with the bullshit. I will just rephrase my opinions in a manner that will not be so "offensive") 4. By Changing the negative and uninspired people around me because that tends to leave you negative and uninspired. 5. And finally, by being more of a spiritual person. and understanding that I need assistance. That every journey is not one that needs to be traveled alone.

When I saw this in the inbox I thought it was gonna be Curtis doing his rendition of Kanye’s latest single. I figured it’s not that far fetched for him to do, but turns out it’s just another tough talk fif record. I’m not hating it. It’s not bad. I’ll admit I’m interested to see what he does with Before I Self Destruct.
Keyshia Cole's third album makes the attempt to try some different styles and show a 'different' side of the singer. For me, she's best on songs that play into her strengths and what we've come to expect from her than those tracks that attempt to be and sound different from typical Keyshia Cole. "Trust Me" and "This is Us" stand out because they feature her vocals paired with a performance tinged with emotion. "A Different Me" is more upbeat than Cole's previous releases, which is a change, but something feels off or lacking on this release. The production of some songs is questionable - her vocals are marred by beats that sound dated and like throwbacks, while her attempts to be different makes her lose the individuality and uniqueness that made her stand out from other R&B artists.
There were some songs that stood out, even if they sounded a bit generic and beneath her usual performance and vocal abilities. "Make Me Over" is one of the best tracks, an upbeat song with something of a gospel-sound. "Please Don't Stop" is quick and fast paced, "Erotic" is just as it sounds - a slower, more sensual song that definitely is a more open and expressive song than you'd expect from her. As for the other songs, they were just okay for me. The release sounded a bit rushed and had less emotion than previous releases. It was a bit of a let down to hear a great singer like Keyshia Cole performing songs that didn't stretch her vocal abilities any and sounded like songs that any up and coming artist could perform. Voletta Wallace, the mother of late rapper Notorious B.I.G., would rather have a conversation with Lil Kim rather than go back and forth with her.
As reported earlier, Lil Kim expressed disappointment in Ms. Wallace and Biggie's wife Faith Evans for not involving her in the production of the late rapper's forthcoming biopic Notorious and demeaning her character in the film.
Kim threatened to dish out dirt on Biggie's mom and Evans but Ms. Wallace says she would rather talk things out and get more details about Kim’s relationship with her son.
Ms. Wallace claims that she learnt things she never knew about Biggie during the filming of Notorious and feels that Kim could fill in some holes.
"I saw a side of my son that I heard of but I haven’t accepted. I’m angered by certain things, disappointed and shocked," Ms. Wallace explained. " I would love to speak to Lil’ Kim, because I need to ask more about this love relationship because I really didn’t like the way he treated her and I’m praying that that’s not it. Only she can answer those questions. She’s a sweet girl and I didn’t think she deserved to be treated the way he treated her, if that’s the case.”
Riots broke out in Oakland, California last night following a peaceful protest over the senseless shooting of a black man by a white Bay Area police officer.
The officer, Johannes Mehserle, 27, quit the force yesterday rather than face questioning by the police internal review board investigating his shooting of 22-year-old Oscar Grant.
Routinely, police officers are required to face the board following incidents where deadly force is used. Mehserle’s attorney had asked the review board to postpone the questioning for a week but the board refused and scheduled the meeting for yesterday. Mehserle’s attorney and a union rep showed up without him and presented his resignation. The resignation was accepted and became effective immediately.
Here’s the problem: accidental shootings of blacks by police are rarely ever charged. The officer has not been arrested nor has he commented on the shooting which occurred in front of witnesses. By turning in his resignation he is not even required to give a statement.
Instead, he has been moved several times for his protection due to death threats.
It certainly doesn’t help the situation in Oakland to hear police investigators shrug off cell phone videos which clearly show Mehserle standing over the prone Grant and firing his service weapon into his back at close range.
Instead of swift justice, the police investigators offer excuses. The videos are grainy, they say. There are other mitigating factors to consider, they say.
The bullet from Mehserle’s sidearm passed through Grant’s body striking the concrete beneath him and ricocheting back into his upper torso, collapsing a lung. He died later at a local hospital. Grant leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter, a grieving family and a torn city left to wonder why.

A formal announcement of his departure from the position, which he has held for nearly two years, may come as early as Thursday (Jan 8).
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source close to the situation confirmed to AllHipHop.com that Dupri has in fact been terminated effective immediately.
The Island Records Urban Division was created within the Island Def Jam Music Group a short time prior to Dupri’s hiring in February 2007. In the position, he oversaw the label’s entire urban music operations, reporting directly to label Chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Steve Bartells, President of Island Music and COO of the Island Def Jam Music Group.
Having enjoyed tremendous success with Island Records songbird Mariah Carey on The Emancipation of Mimi, Dupri’s duties also included providing production for the Music Group’s entire roster.
In April 2008, Island/Def Jam announced the creation of TAG Records, a new venture with Procter & Gamble’s TAG brand to be helmed by Dupri. The partnership created a new marketing module that allowed for new talent, like So So Def/TAG artist Q, to be cross-promoted in conjunction with TAG body sprays through print, television, radio, and digital advertising.
No word on how Dupri’s departure will affect TAG Records, nor the roster of artists on So So Def, which has been distributed through Island Urban since 2007.

Jan. 5 (Bloomberg) -- President-elect Barack Obama’s economic stimulus package will include hundreds of billions of dollars worth of tax breaks for individuals and businesses, according to a transition official and Democratic aides.
Obama is asking that tax cuts make up 40 percent of a stimulus package, the people say. The measure may be worth as much as $775 billion, a Democratic aide says, meaning tax cuts may constitute more than $300 billion of the legislation.
The dollar today rose to the highest level in almost three weeks against the euro and also surged against the yen on speculation that the Obama plan would help the U.S. economy recover from recession.
Making tax cuts such a large part of the stimulus may help win support from congressional Republicans. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, said his party would support an immediate middle-class tax cut as part of any stimulus package.
“Republicans, by and large, think tax relief is a great way to get money to people immediately,” McConnell said yesterday on ABC’s “This Week.”
The plan would attempt to boost consumer demand by spending $140 billion on tax breaks worth $500 for individuals and $1,000 for couples, according to a House Democratic aide. The change would come by altering tax-withholding rules, rather than through a rebate check as with the previous stimulus plan enacted last year, so that workers would see an immediate increase in their take-home pay.
The $500 tax credit would apply to the first $8,100 of wages, meaning a worker who earns $24,400 a year and is paid twice a month would get about $60 extra per paycheck for four months.
Business Tax Breaks
For businesses, the aide said, lawmakers will use similar measures they’ve employed in past stimulus bills, such as allowing companies to get refunds for taxes paid in any or all of the past five years by deducting losses they’ve incurred now; those losses can currently only be carried back two years.
Congress is also likely to include incentives such as accelerated depreciation to encourage companies to buy equipment now rather than defer such investments. The plan also attempts to combat joblessness by offering companies tax breaks for hiring more workers, the aide said.
The tax provisions are also likely to repeal the alternative minimum tax on municipal bonds issued to build airport runways, sewer systems and other privately run facilities that benefit the population at large, another aide said. Congress is unlikely to enact a new round of incentives for U.S.-based multinational corporations to repatriate foreign earnings at a discounted tax rate as urged by business groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, that aide said.
Accelerated Tax Breaks
Many of the business tax incentives would be accelerated so that any dollar written off now would not be able to be claimed in future years, the aide said. That would reduce the long-term impact of the tax cuts on the federal budget deficit.
Obama is slated to meet today with congressional leaders from both parties to discuss the plan. Democrats said Congress probably won’t be able to complete work on the plan by January 20, the day of the inauguration, as some had hoped.
“It’s going to be very difficult to get a package put together that early,” said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer in an interview on “Fox News Sunday.” “We want to do this right.” He said he expects the House to pass the bill by the end of the month and get the legislation through the Senate and signed into law in February.
Urgency
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, in an interview yesterday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” downplayed the importance of what he called a “false” deadline. “The urgency of this, everyone knows about -- but I’m not going to have some false deadline,” Reid said. “It’ll take as much time as it needs to get done.”
Obama has called on lawmakers to quickly pass legislation to prop up the economy, which is in its worst slump in decades and could deteriorate further without significant fiscal stimulus. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg last month projected gross domestic product would shrink in the fourth quarter by 4.3 percent, the biggest decline since 1982.
