Craxxi's Honey's: Sallie Toussaint

SALLIE TOUSSAINT was born in Connecticut to Trinidadian parents. She has an older brother, an older sister, and a younger brother. Sallie’s father was a diplomat who is now retired. Shortly after being born, Sallie’s parents returned to Trinidad. Sallie returned to the United States as a pre-teen and quickly adapted to her new culture and environment where she excelled both personally and academically. She went to the University of Connecticut and gained a Bachelors Degree in Journalism. In order to help pay for her tuition she began to do some modeling. This modeling work lead to her becoming Miss Connecticut, and then finally Miss USA World.

Sallie is not only obviously beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well. When Sallie was in her teens she was driven to do things for other people. She told her father about an idea she had to help children -- and now Sallie and her father have built, and are running an orphanage in Trinidad. They have successfully helped place many children in loving and caring homes. Sallie helps to support the orphanage with money she earns in the U.S. from her modeling and acting. As an adjunct to the orphanage they have done some family counseling and have taken in children and women who were in an abusive domestic situation.

Sallie has appeared in high profile ad campaigns, and has worked with some of the top photographers in the fashion industry including Antoine Verglas and Patrick Demarchelier. At 5 feet 9 inches, Sallie has a captivating presence in front of the camera and has graced the pages of Essence, Vogue and numerous magazines. She has also been the face of Colgate, Reebok, Coogie by Fubu and is also the new face of Bacardi Flavors. In addition Sallie has appeared in numerous TV commercials, most recently for Verizon.

Sallie was about to start Law School when Hollywood came calling, and her career path took a differnt turn -- she was hand-picked out of hundreds of actresses, by Martin Scorsese and Jack Nicholson, to play the part of "The Woman At the Opera", in the Oscar-winning motion picture The Departed.

Along with The Departed, Sallie Toussaint has been featured in other small but memorable roles including a part in the #1 hit TV show The Sopranos. Sallie recently performed on Broadway in the Eve Ensler standard, The Vagina Monologues.

With her naturally curvy Amazonian presence, Caribbean sense of humor and New England charm, Sallie gets the vote on several websites as one of the most beautiful women in the history of the Pageant World. This "exotic and comely femme" is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and a face to watch in the future.
